I don't know how some of the other reviewers were using this tool, but I also bought a 4" diamond blade (an expensive high-quality one with lots of diamonds) for cutting through stucco siding and concrete slabs---it works terrific! I don't write many glowing reviews, but I can't say enough good things about this tool. It's light weight and it runs a long time on a single battery---longer than my DeWalt 18V cordless reciprocating saw---doing serious damage. I'm glad I bought it and I'm glad it's in my tool kit. The only negative is that it should have a dust collector attachment because this thing kicks up clouds of dust as it devours concrete.

4.) Great cut-off tool

This cut-off tool is likely the only one you are going to need. It uses the same batteries as the rest of my tools, accepts standard wheels, and has plenty of torque to get the job done. Sure beats a hacksaw!

6.) Very convenient compared to my pneumatic cutoff wheel
Reviewed by: God, Country, Corps santa clara, CA USA
Rating:
I have a pneumatic cutoff tool similar to this, but it requires time to start the compressor and dryers on the air line, and for the tanks to come to pressure. I always have an 18V XRP battery ready to go so for quick jobs this is much faster.
It features 2 nice removable guards, one partially open, and one fully enclosed, each with quick release removal and installation levers.
The side handle unscrews for convenience
Additionally, if you want to use normal wheels from the welding store, there is a locknut and wrench that come with this - you don't use them with the dewalt wheels but if you have a supply of grinding wheels you will need those parts, so put them together (I bought the tool only which saves quite a bit and did not include a case)
When you first get the dewalt wheels you should do a edge cut and surface grind to balance the wheel - they are not always perfect and you can feel the wobble until they shape up, which doesn't take long.
Altogether the convenience factor of using 18V batteries (it's ready for li-ion btw) instead of my pneumatic system is great. For big projects, I'll have the compressor running anyways so it's a no brainer, but for small work this is a cheap solution to grind, or cut.
7.) Great tool.

No more running to get the extention cord every time we have to trim something in the field working. Bought a variety pack of different blades,(ie: grinding, cutoff, metal, masonary)and it is super simple to change out. Removeable hand grip and guard makes it easy to use in tight areas. Just use caution when doing this as those things are there for your protection.I wish we had bought this years ago.

Great tool for its catagory. Very handy.
18v coreless does not equal 120v corded, anyone who doesn't know this already, please don't use - its will be dangerous for you to use.

Mine came in a combo kit with other 18v tools. I fully expected to eBay it away as a bare tool.
Surprise! I've used this thing way more often than I expected! Before I could eBay it, I had a use for it. I use it to sharpen shovels and mower blades, and to cut decking bolts. On several occasion, I've used it to cut chain and to cut slots in stripped bolt heads.
This tool probably won't be suitable for all-day grinding, but it's super handy for those one-off uses as a cordless tool. I'm keeping mine!
10.) Handy But Limited
Reviewed by: Brian Kowalski Middleborough, MA USA

Anyone thinking that this is the same as a standard Dewalt angle grinder with a 120 volt motor/cord will be disappointed. That said, even with this tools limitations on power, it is very handy to not have to lug out cords to do a small grinding or cutting job. If you have budget for only one grinder - and had some heavy grinding to do - get a corded model, for a second, third + grinder, or for only light work this tool can be really handy.

As with all of the DeWalt 18 volt line of tools - this grinder is very handy and easy to use. I have pretty much all of the tools and using one battery for everything is nice. This tool is not for everyone, as it is a specialty type tool. I don't think I will use it for hours on end, but for the quick jobs - it is great.
14.) Needs to have the handle redesigned

I used this thing for just a couple of things so far. I ground off some rivets while changing the power window regulator on my car and ground down some screws that were poking through a board in a crawl space. It is very convenient, handy, and light weight. A cordless grinder is a must for those quick jobs. But as a someone who has done extensive metal fabricating, I cant get used to the handle design. I would prefer the grinder to actually use a traditional grinder body and handle, just with the battery at the end. I don't like the raised offset loop type handle. It should just look and feel like a normal 4 1/2 inch grinder. Dewalt should redesign this for the 18 volt nano model.

This thing has no power i mean none. I mean even with a fresh charged battery this thing is a dog. I know its corless but it barely has the power to cut through a 1/2" bolt (it'll bog down in the process.)This thing is meant to cut off non hardened small diameter hardwar thats all anything more will bog it down to a stop.Thats enough said as far as im concerned
